Salt-flavored manju, made by the combining special production method with soybean flour
Salt-flavored manju, famous confectionery of Banshu Ako, home of Chushingura. It is a specialty that has been loved from the Genroku era to the present. Mishimaya Honten is the only store in Ako that makes sweet bean paste by traditional method, using firewood instead of gas or electricity. The only ingredients are azuki beans from Hokkaido, Ako salt, and sugar. With no additives, the bean paste has a gentle taste. The salt-flavored manju with its soft coating bun similar to rakugan (sweet made with soybean, rice flour and sugar) and our special smooth bean paste filling, melts away in your mouth. It is popular not only as a souvenir, but also among the locals for its softness.

60 years at Ako Misaki in Seto Inland Sea National Park
Mishimaya Honten's confectionery has received numerous awards at the National Confectionery Expo. We recommend salt-flavored manju "soybean-flavor" in addition to the standard "shiro (white)" and "maccha" (powdered green tea)".
The soy-flavored salt manju wo Mishimaya Honten is fragrant with soybean flour and new and nostalgic at the same time.
Superb item recommended for both regular and first-time customers.
Our wrapping paper is based on the works concerning the Chushingura gishi, by Hashimoto Gyokuransai Sadahide, a famous ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo era. The owner of our store Mishimaya, has three pieces of the original works by Sadahide. Ako Misaki's scenery is beautiful throughout the year. When you happen to be in Ako Misaki please drop by. We are located a hundred meters away from the Tabuchi Memorial Hall.
